TOPIC: Bon Accord dam

Bon Accord dam 8 months 1 week ago #251

Bon Accord dam - Pretoria.

I have heard there are fish in there, but would like some feedback as to what is swimming around there?

Bass venue?
Carp on lure?
Barbel on lure/roepstok?

What have you experienced there?

There are carp and barbel for sure.
I tried very hard for bass but did not get bit. I heard there are bass in the dam.

The shore is littered badly due to everything coming down the Apies river.

I have spoken to a few people who have caught bass there, but sounds like the bass are few / sporadic. I have only tried once and found nothing. Water is usually fairly dirty. I must really go again some time...

As school children I used to go with friends to the dam quite often - Our favourite place was the rocks at the overflow!
We caught plenty Kurper, Barbel and carp but never came across any bass.
I suppose the bass came later from the dams upstream
That is probably why they are not plentiful!
Bass fishing is my passion!
Making my own plastic lures is my hobby!
Catching bass on the lures I make is fulfilling!

Thanks Schalla, that's good news.
Many species to go target on fly...
